No one in Scientology’s PR department seemed to realize that having Scientologists pour hundreds of cups of Kool Aid would instantly evoke the horrors of Jonestown where 912 people died in a mass cult suicide and execution.
The images of the dead and the plastic tubs of poisoned Kool Aid from which they drank at Jonestown are forever burned into the memory of Western Civilization. One of the questions my wife Karen de la Carriere gets asked frequently when she is interviewed is this: Will Scientology end like Jonestown?
