Rare 1996 Photo of Shelly Miscavige

1996: Shelly Miscavige is seen standing to the right of David Miscavige with her arms crossed. David Miscavige is Flag Land Base demonstrating the “revolutionary new Quantum meter” that was later obsoleted by the 50,000x faster Ultra-Mark VIII.

Shelly Miscavige has not been seen in public for over one decade. David Miscavige has never formally denied that he locked away his wife Shelly.

Like Mary Sue Hubbard before her, Shelly became a non-person in the Church of Scientology.

Perversely, the website davidmiscavige.org obliquely boasts that David Miscavige destroyed Mary Sue Hubbard:

In later years, L. Ron Hubbard described a heroic Church executive who identified and then cleared the ranks of rogue staff attempting to seize control of Scientology while Mr. Hubbard was engaged in intensive research and not directly involved in the day-to-day management of the Church.

Mary Sue Hubbard (1931-2002) was the Controller in the Guardian’s Office. Per David Miscavige’s interpretation, Mary Sue Hubbard was the leader of the rogue staff that attempted to seize control of Scientology.

This of course is all a lie. L. Ron Hubbard wrote Program Snow White and Mary Sue Hubbard supervised the criminal activities of this program. When Snow White fell apart following the massive FBI raid of July 8, 1977, Mary Sue Hubbard and her co-conspirators were criminally charged by a Grand Jury.

United States v. Hubbard was a 1978 criminal court case charging Mary Sue Hubbard and several other members of the Church of Scientology with violations of various laws including:
U.S.C. 18 §§ 2 (Aiding and Abetting), 371 (Conspiracy), 641 (Theft of Govt Property), 1503 (Obstruction of Justice), 1623 (False Declarations before a Grand Jury), and 2511(1)(a) (Interception of Oral Communication). Also included was 22 D.C. Code §§ 105, 1801(b) (Burglary, Aiding and Abetting).[1]
All eleven defendants were found guilty and sentenced to both fines and imprisonment.

Mary Sue Hubbard served time in prison for crimes her husband ordered. Ron Hubbard himself went into hiding for the rest of his life.

Disgraced, Mary Sue Hubbard’s name was forever purged from the Church of Scientology. One can search far and wide across all official Scientology websites and never find the name and image of Mary Sue Hubbard.

Shelly Miscavige is the new Mary Sue Hubbard.

  1. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree…Miscavige’s behavior mirrors that of the founder.

Totalitarian regimes consistently end up rewriting their own history by scapegoating and then expunging key figures when they (inevitably) fall from grace. Those closest to the fire eventually get burned. Both Mary Sue and Shelly were complicit in wrongdoing at the highest levels and both have paid a heavy price. No unexpected, but still very sad.
