“We are a simple bucolic farm couple in rural America. We regret writing our letters of support for Danny Masterson really, really bad. No one told ever us they would be made public. Sorry.”
Contrary to what some have said online, the Court did not leak the letters of support written on behalf of the convicted rapist Danny Masterson.
We believe the Church of Scientology spread this disinformation online as part of its internal campaign designed to convince the remaining Scientologists that Masterson’s conviction on two counts of forcible rape was a travesty of justice.
Two factors are at work within Scientology in terms of the Masterson conviction. First, Scientologists are inherently paranoid because paranoia and a distrust of the outside world are part of Scientology’s core indoctrination of its members. Second, L. Ron Hubbard’s teachings hold the secular justice system in utter contempt as “wog law.” Therefore, it would be easy for Scientology’s Office of Special Affairs to persuade Scientologists that Danny Masterson was the victim of a diabolical plot by sinister forces aimed at destroying both Masterson and the Church of Scientology itself.
The Church of Scientology considers that it is a law unto itself. Hubbard wrote:
“Somebody some day will say ‘this is illegal.’ By then be sure the orgs [Scientology organizations] say what is legal or not.” — L. Ron Hubbard, Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 4 January 1966, “LRH Relationship to Orgs”
“Once the world is Clear — a nation, a state, a city or a village — the Scientology-organization in the area becomes its government! And once this has taken place the only policy accepted as valid is Scientology policy.” — L. Ron Hubbard, taped lecture 9 January 1962, “Future Org Trends”
The fact is that Danny Masterson’s criminal defense attorneys Phillip Cohen and Shawn Holley placed the letters of support written by Ashton Kutcher, Mila Kunis, and many others into their Sentencing Position Memorandum.
This is a publicly available 108-page document and is posted below. Excerpts of the letters of support are quoted in the memorandum; copies of the actual letters are attached to the memorandum as exhibits.
Scientologists sending letters of support for Danny Masterson include Bijou Philips; Carol Masterson; Christopher Masterson; Jordan Masterson; Alanna Masterson; Will Masterson; Giovanni Ribisi; Marissa Ribisi; Albert Ribisi; Gay Ribisi; and Ethan Suplee.

This is only going to drive non-scientologist friends further away, and maybe give Celebrity Center regulars pause for thought about how the Org is not helping their public image.
Yes, serial rapists can mimick socially acceptable behavior. Sociopaths are often skilled manipulators…
