1992: White Scientologists boarded up Scientology’s HGB building in Hollywood and formed a human chain around it. In doing so, the Church of Scientology sent a message that protecting its real estate was its most important objective.
As the images above show, during the 1992 uprising in Los Angeles following the acquittal of the LAPD officers who savagely beat Rodney King, White Scientologists boarded up Scientology’s HGB Building in Hollywood and formed a human chain around it. Located on the corner of Hollywood Blvd. and Ivar, the HGB is the HQ of Scientology’s notorious Office of Special Affairs. David Miscavige has an office in the building. The HGB had to be protected at all costs.
This same message is being communicated by the Church of Scientology in 2020: Protecting Scientology’s real estate is all that matters during civil unrest.
As Mike Rinder noted on his blog, Scientology’s New York City Ideal Org boarded itself up during the civil unrest following the horrific police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis. This time, however, there was no human chain around the Org. Scientologists have retreated from the streets.

Tony Ortega showed photos on his blog of Scientology’s Portland and Pasadena Org boarding up. The Harlem Org has followed and is boarded up. David Miscavige’s big twenty year $1.5 billion dollar bet on Ideal Orgs has failed in the face of the pandemic and civil unrest.

Pasadena Ideal Org Boarded Up. Again, Scientology’s priority in the 2020 uprising is protecting its real estate. Nothing else matters.

Portland Ideal Org boarded up: Protecting David Miscavige’s real estate is all that matters.
Pac Base (Big Blue) in Los Angeles is boarded up. The Test Center on Hollywood Blvd. is boarded up.
David Miscavige’s $1.5 billion bet on Ideal Orgs doesn’t work in a pandemic or civil unrest. Perhaps the Ideal Orgs will never work as planned. The new normal in Scientology is Zoom meetings and podcasts.
David Miscavige’s big Nuremberg rallies may well become a relic of a bygone era when he was still in charge. We say this because Miscavige is missing in action in the current state of affairs. Unlike the real leaders who are out in front of the cameras and in the streets leading, Miscavige is AWOL. There are no photos of him at the Org-level leading or even addressing Scientologists from his failed $100 million Scientology TV network. Miscavige has disappeared into a cloud of Decon-7.
What will happen going into the future is that the Church of Scientology will make false PR claims in the aftermath of the pandemic and the civil unrest. This is what Scientology falsely stated following the 1992 uprising:
The 300 Scientologists surrounded the HGB Building and nothing else. The Church of Scientology’s bogus claim ignored the massive LAPD presence. Additionally, then California Governor Pete Wilson ordered the deployment of 10,000 California National Guard troops. These heavily armed soldiers patrolled 24/7 in armored personnel carriers and Humvee’s. Scientology did not stop anything and used the 1992 uprising to raise money for itself.

In this same vein of taking credit where no credit is due, the Church of Scientology ridiculously claimed that its Way to Happiness booklet reduced crime in Colombia by 50%. This too ignores the bravery of the Colombian military and police forces in their brutal and bloody war with FARC guerrillas and narco-traffickers.
If copies of The Way to Happiness reduced crime in Colombia by 50%, then why aren’t there any Scientology Volunteer Ministers out in the streets of US cities handing out copies of The Way to Happiness? Scientology’s lies about The Way to Happiness reducing crime or bringing calm is ridiculous on its face.
In one of the most bizarre episodes in the entire history of Scientology, David Miscavige paid the retired Colombian Police General Carlos Ramiro Mena Bravo to award him a medal for, “saving humanity from violence, evil, terrorism, drug dealings and all the negative factors that threaten it.”
The self-aggrandizing lies of David Miscavige Scientology are shown to for what they are as America burns and Scientologists hide in their boarded up Orgs.
