The Church of Scientology and the Nation of Islam having effectively merged many years ago, it was inevitable that the forces of syncretism would manifest. Just as Nation of Islam members have become trained Scientology auditors, so too have Scientologists have embraced the Nation of Islam’s dangerous and pseudoscientific anti-vaccination quackery.

The Nation of Islam is headquartered in Chicago. As reported by the New York times last month, Chicago is high on the list of American cities likely to be the epicenter of the next measles outbreak:

Chicago, Los Angeles and Miami are the cities most likely to see the next measles outbreaks, according to an unusual new study… To assess risk, the researchers looked at how many children in counties across the country had nonmedical vaccination exemptions — which include “religious,” “philosophical” or “personal belief” exemptions, depending on state law. The team then focused on counties with international airports, because every American outbreak since 2000 has begun with a case imported from overseas. …

Having apparently learned nothing from the measles outbreak aboard its pocket cruise ship the MV Freewinds, Scientology has doubled down on its anti-vaxxer crusading. Using tax free dollars, Scientology sent its Washington DC lobbyist Greg Mitchell to an anti-vaccination rally held by the Hasidim Jewish community in the Brooklyn where a measles outbreak occurred as the haredi (ultra-Orthodox Jews) do not believe in vaccinations.

As reported by The Times of Israel, Greg Mitchell promised to represent the Brooklyn haredi as their point man in DC. This does not bode well as Mitchell is the same lobbyist who worked on Scientology D List celeb Joy Villa’s Congressional exploratory committee which went exactly nowhere and was widely viewed as nothing more than glib publicity-seeking. Was Mitchell serious about what he told the Hasidim community? Or is this just Scientology’s desperate attempt to find credibility by aligning itself to an actual religious community? In any case, Scientology has bought into the anti-vaccination movement. This is quite a companion piece to Scientology’s avowed and deranged goal to destroy Pyschiartry and outlaw psychiatric medications.

Over against Greg Mitchell’s reaching out to the Jewish community, Scientologist and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan recently denied being anti-Semitic and insisted that he only wishes to separate the good Jews from the Satanic Jews. In the tradition of Abrahamic Monotheism only God can do such a thing. Nevertheless, after leading the Nation of Islam into the Church Scientology — which Church is apparently the Promised Land for the Nation — Mr. Farrakhan now proposes to exalt himself above the Throne of God and effectuate divine judgment against the Jewish people.

Will Mr. Farrakhan’s “good Jews” be those Jews who abjure vaccinations and the other works of Satan? And will Mr. Farrakhan’s “good Jews” be obligated upon the altar to accept his anti-Semitism in the same way the Church of Scientology has cravenly acquiesced to Mr. Farrakhan’s bigotry by its silence? Scientology leader David Miscavige is responsible for this; he is too afraid to act against Mr. Farrakhan. All of the Jews in the Church of Scientology must suck up the Nation of Islam’s anti-Semitism in silence

Mr. Farrakhan stated that L. Ron Hubbard’s racism was of no consequence:

It may be that the repudiated junk science of Andrew Wakefield negates all of these tortured contradictions and unites religious extremist anti-vaxxers whose goal, as shown by their actions, is to pose a menace to the health of the entire world due to their profound and delusional denial of biological reality.

The MV Freewinds was ordered into quarantine by health officials on Curacao as all of Scientology’s OT powers proved utterly useless against the measles. Vaccinations would have prevented the measles outbreak on the MV Freewinds. The same is true for the Hasidic community in Brooklyn. If measles affects the Nation of Islam in Chicago the point will be proven once again: One can have the benefits of medical science or one can embrace paranoid vaccination conspiracy theories and accept the consequences that go with it.
