Child X author Jamie Mustard was born into Scientology’s Sea Org and had a nightmarish existence as did all children who were born into the Sea Org. Their testimonies about the horrific treatment in Sea Org nurseries and cadet orgs have been consistent across decades.
As a child, Jamie was warehoused in hellish and subhuman slum conditions with other Sea Org children. These children were nothing more than a future unit of productions for the Sea Org. As such, they were not worth spending money on, parenting, or even taking care of basic hygiene and medical and dental needs.
A cruel part of Jamie’s early life was illiteracy as he was denied any real education. Scientology uses illiteracy as one of its many weapons and tactics to enslave its Sea Org children and young adults. Scientology wants unquestioning and slavish obedience and not educated people.
Jamie left the Sea Org as a young man and waged an epic struggle against his own illiteracy. Incredibly, doors opened for Jamie due to his hard work. He went on to earn his BA from the London School of Economics.
Jamie Mustard’s Undergrad Thesis at LSE was on slavery as an economic system.
In this interview, Jamie Mustard explains why Scientology’s Sea Org is based upon a classic Chattel Slavery model. This is a way to reframe the Sea Org in formal terms.

L Ron Hubbard came from a military background and he grew up in a military family. Many people do not know that when one joins the military, they give up many of their constitutional rights.
Hubbard was apparently very comfortable in this culture and, as he was quite an extremist, it is not surprising that he created his Sea Organization as a military culture which devolved into a slave culture.
Describing wonderful goals that one has is one thing….. But how one goes about attaining them is quite another.
Jamie does everyone who has been affected by this organization a great service by clearly naming the actual activities of this group. In slaving others is the complete opposite of freedom and self determinism.
