IRS Commissioner Billy Long Kills the Johnson Amendment; US Churches Can Now Spend Freely in Political Campaigns: The Scientology Subtext to This Explained

The Deranged Christian Nationalist General Michael Flynn (US Army ret).

IRS Commissioner Billy Long yesterday capitulated to the fascist Christian Nationalist Army dba the National Religious Broadcasters by entering into a Consent Judgment in which the IRS will no longer enforce the Johnson Amendment.

Scroll down to read the ruling in the Texas case National Religious Broadcasters v. Billy Long as IRS Commissioner.

Passed in 1954, the Johnson Amendment was authored by then US Senator Lyndon Baines Johnson of Texas who later became President Johnson following the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963.

The Johnson Amendment forbid churches from spending money to engage in politics by endorsing candidates and political initiatives. The Amendment was intended to reinforce the separation of Church and State in America.

While Christians have argued that the phrase “the Separation of Church and State” appears nowhere in the US Constitution, the reply to this is that the word “Trinity” appears nowhere in the Bible.

Just as the Doctrine of the Trinity can be inferred from the Bible, the Separation of Church and State is easily inferred from the Constitution.

Christian Nationalists have long vowed to destroy the Johnson Amendment and were particularly emphatic to do so after the Supreme Court ruling in Burwell v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. (2014) that closely-held corporations did not have to pay for employee contraception under the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA).

In 2022, the US Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.

Now the Johnson Amendment is dead, the Christian Nationalists have scored a stunning trifecta in destroying the separation of Church and State. Welcome to John Calvin’s Geneva 2025.

IRS Commissioner Billy Long wants to abolish the IRS.

President Trump has long been opposed to the Johnson Amendment and said he wanted to do away with it. Given the present Supreme Court bench, the death of the Johnson Amendment was a fait accompli had IRS Commissioner Billy Long not killed it in Texas. From Forbes

Long does not have any formal training in tax, law, or accounting, does not have a college degree and never served in Congress on a tax writing committee. He dropped out of the University of Missouri before returning to school—this time, to an auction training program at the Missouri Auction School. He was told, he explained to Auctioneer Magazine that it was the “Harvard of auctioneering schools.” There, he earned his Certified Auctioneer designation.

Billy Long had served as a Republican Congressman from Missouri from 2011-2025. He was easily confirmed by the US Senate to become the 51st IRS Commissioner on June 2025.

We think part of the backroom deal here was that Long would kill the Johnson Amendment as his first and highest priority.

The reason we say this is that Long supported the failed Fair Tax Act of 2015 which called for defunding and abolishing the entire IRS by 2019.

IRS Commissioner Billy Long has begun the first steps to dismantle the IRS by giving the NRB what it most wanted now and that was the head of the Johnson Amendment on a silver platter. This evokes the same IRS corruption that occurred when the agency played a rigged game and obligingly gave Scientology 501(c)(3) status in 1993.

The Fair Tax Act of 2015 aimed to kill the IRS and implement a 23% national sales tax which would be administered by the States. This is resonant with Scientology’s flat tax plan which goes back to its 1980’s war with the IRS.

The Scientology front group CATS (Citizens for an Alternative Tax System) was founded by the malevolent Scientology douchebag and attorney Stephen Hayes. Attorney Hayes now operates Americans For Fair Taxation (AFFT) dba FairTax.org.

Stephen Hayes, the aforementioned malevolent Scientology douchebag, is the very same OSA knifeman who purchased the assets of the Cult Awareness Network (CAN) once Scientology had bankrupted CAN in a lawsuit.

We covered Hayes’ role in trying to help his fellow Scientologist, and now convicted felon,  David Gentile in a failed attempt to seize control of GPB Capital Holdings and its $1.1 billion in assets in 2023.

At the Fair Tax Board page, Hayes’ bio is given. No mention of Scientology is made. We recommend that readers look at the Fair Tax Board page to see the other members of the Board. There are connections into US Republican politics.

The latest move to abolish the IRS is the Fair Tax Act of 2025

Stephen Hayes is part of this effort to abolish the IRS and this reflects Scientology’s core politics: L. Ron Hubbard absolutely hated what he called “the income tax” and considered income taxes to be a form of theft. Nevermind that Hubbard and Scientologists steal whatever is not nailed down, including all public services and offloading Sea Org medical costs on to taxpayers wherever possible, the Commodore and his minions hate the income tax.

In terms of political horsepower, we see John Coale as the most politically powerful Scientologist in America. With his direct ties to President Trump, Coale is the real shotcaller in DC for Scientology, this as evidenced by Reuters calling Coale a “senior U.S. official” in February:

Christianity Inc. in America is now free to do whatever it wants in American political elections. From local school boards to the White House, Senate, and Congress, Christianity Inc. can now freely spend its unlimited war chest of money to support its fascist agenda to “Take Back America for God.” The ominous overtones

The Scientology Cult is also free to do the same. However, as Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass learned the hard way, an endorsement from Scientology is the kiss of death. Mayor Bass was on the short list of VP picks for then Presidential candidate Joe Biden in the 2020 election. When a picture of Karen Bass emerged speaking at a Scientology Los Angeles event with David Miscavige, Bass was savaged in the media.

We think Scientology’s only real benefit in terms of the demise of the Johnson Amendment will be that it can spend enormous amounts of money to “Take Back Clearwater for Ron.” We predict Scientology will use its newfound freedom to spend all the money necessary to elect an all-Scientologist City Council and Mayor in Clearwater.

Paradoxically, the death of the Johnson Amendment could mean that Christian Nationalists can now quit pretending that “Interfaith dialogue” means anything at all. Massimo Introvigne, who has never met a cult from which he would not take money to defend, is doomed to perish in his diseased swamp of lies and deceit in any case.

The Christian Nationalists are now free to sever all ties to the non-Evangelical and non-Trinitarian groups with which it has traditionally aligned for the purposes of political expediency.

Christian Nationalism worked in the interfaith world for a number of reasons, but now that it has the Hobby Lobby victory; Roe v. Wade overturned; and the Johnson Amendment destroyed, we think Christian Nationalists will now begin to focus on asserting Christian Evangelical doctrinal purity within America. This would reflect on making further inroads into politics, education, public health, and all other areas of life. This is the diktat the Apostle Paul asserted in 2 Corinthians 10:3-6:

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled.

As a function of asserting Christian Supremacy, Christian Nationalism would predictably narrow its focus within the State Department on stopping the persecution of doctrinally-aligned groups outside America. Christian Nationalism no longer has to care if Falun Gong is persecuted in China or the Jehovah’s Witnesses and Scientologists are imprisoned in Russia.

To this point, John Coale and his wife Greta Van Susteren’s friendship with Franklin Graham would not protect Scientology. We think the larger Christian Nationalism movement would absolutely never make any concession whatsoever for the Satanic Cult of Scientology:

Do not be unequally bound together with unbelievers [do not make mismatched alliances with them, inconsistent with your faith]. For what partnership can righteousness have with lawlessness? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? – 2 Cor. 6:14 Amplified Version

We also think that the Christian Nationalists would maintain ties with US Catholics. However, the non-Trinitarian Mormons and Jehovah’s Witnesses along with the Romney/Bush-Cheney Republicans who oppose Donald Trump would now seem to be out of favor with the Christian Nationalists. Mitt Romney would possibly have to be quietly repudiated in Salt Lake City by the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.

  1. Excellent catch and reporting this Jeffrey.

    Question, wise Jeffrey:

Do you think this will begin a trend of disunity between the Christian faiths current ecumenicism?

It to me means that faiths with the most money to spend on politics will wish quid pro quo for their political donations, squishing out the smaller less donating faiths.

    ———————————–

“forgive them for they know not what they do”

Comes to mind, not sure if that’s a legit quote of Jesus or not

    ————————————–

On the L. Ron Hubbard fake “religion” Scientology, with all it’s Scientology money, still I don’t think Hubbard wrote a single word saying donate money to political groups.

But a close reading of the “Simon Bolivar” policy by Hubbard, which all Scientologists who study the “Ethics Conditions” will read the “Responsibilities of Leaders” aka “Simon Bolivar” policy, and within that policy it clearly says a person or group must adapt to the morays of their current societal setting, which is directly why Mary Sue and Hubbard agreed with the US Govt offices illegal breakins, since the FBI at the time was doing the breakins of all kinds of US citizens that at that time was very controversial. (I think US Justice Dept office court approved enterings are fine, and of course all outside groups doing non court approved enterings are illegal, of course.)

Hubbard’s “Simon Bolivar” principles to guide Scientology/Scientologists say to them to play along with one’s society’s current practices, dodgey as those might be.

Which is another reason NEVER to join, and always quit Scientology, it’s a slippery con fake religion. Xenu’s ghosts exorcism on their OT 3, 4 5, 6 and 7 upper steps of Scientology, which they cannot even admit they do so much Xenu’s ghosts exorcism as they do, nor can they admit they even do it.

Scientology is just like Loser Ron Hubbard.

Bless all the good followers of Scientology, I hope they get out, and find a better path.
