Monetizing Cult Sexual Abuse Survivors & Other Victims: Time to Shut Down the Brian Kent Litigation Machine a/k/a Abuse Guardian?

Disgraced attorney Brian Kent is connected to an LLC called Abuse Guardian.

Abuse Guardian promotes itself as “A National Alliance of Sexual Abuse Lawyers.” These lawyers present themselves as specialists in sexual abuse. However, based upon very simple research, Abuse Guardian is actually a group of lawyers that will take on any case ranging from robocall harassment to Uber driver assaults to clergy sexual abuse.

The evidence suggests that Abuse Guardian is nothing more than an internet marketing and sales funnel for a group of attorneys associated with Brian Kent. The affiliate websites are all cookie cutter copies.

Abuse Guardian is a dba of LPB Law Group LLC, a Philadelphia LLC.

Our investigative task is to discover who actually owns LPB Law Group LLC and search for their franchise documents; fee sharing arrangements; referral fees; and other documents in order to see who the real owners are and where the money goes. Please contact us if you have documents: jeffreyaugustine@gmail.com.

Based upon press releases for Abuse Guardian published online by Brian Kent, it seems he owns and controls LPB Law Group. However, due to the lack of transparency in LPB Law Group dba Abuse Guardian, definitive proof is needed to establish Kent’s ownership and control.

The ownership is crucial to establish for this reason: If Kent is running a sales and marketing operation called Abuse Guardian then how much time does this take away from his clients? There are other questions of ethics as well.

We will shortly be publishing a complete list of all the attorneys that are part of Abuse Guardian.

Two attorneys linked to the Abuse Guardian page on X show maps of what appear to be their designated geographical sales territories in a franchise system, i.e. all referrals coming into Abuse Guardian would seem to be allocated geographically. There would of course be a fee arrangement for an attorney to obtain an exclusive territory in the Abuse Guardian sales and marketing network. Here are the two maps we found:

Another example of territories is attorney Stewart Ryan’s  video on the Abuse Guardian YouTube channel. In this video, Ryan’s designated Abuse Guardian “practice territory” is clearly stated beginning at 26 seconds in:

We are of the opinion that Abuse Guardian, which does not exclusively represent sexual abuse survivors as it claims, should dissolve itself as an LLC and terminate operations. Abuse Guardian should release its affiliates from all contractual obligations so there are no connections to Brian Kent. We think this is necessary due to the extremely serious nature of the offense committed by Brian Kent.

Sexual assault victims need attorneys, and, many victims need a contingency arrangement with a law firm as they cannot pay for a civil lawsuit. This is all legal and necessary.

However, we think Abuse Guardian is not a good or ethical business model for lawyers. For instance, do Abuse Guardian’s clients get the best representation given the firm’s controlled intake process whereby victims are assigned a specific attorney within an exclusive “practice area” in what appears to be a franchise system?

And the larger question is this: Did any of the Abuse Guardian affiliate attorneys knew about the confidential bar complaint against Brian Kent?

Conversely, if the affiliate attorneys did not know about the complaint, then Kent failed to inform them and this shows an utter lack of transparency within the Abuse Guardian system.

CHILD USA

Brian Kent’s Child USA Board seat enhanced his prestige and ability to attract clients for his Abuse Guardian marketing and sales organization. After Kent was exposed as a predator, Kent resigned his Board seat at Child USA.

Kent’s offenses are so dire that Marci Hamilton, Founder of Child USA, has called for a criminal investigation into Kent. She did this after announcing his resignation from Child USA:

  • LPB Law Group LLC is dba Abuse Guardian
  • LPB Law Group LLC has a Pennsylvania business registration with no Agent of Service shown
  • A Whois search shows the domain abuseguardian.com is registered anonymously:

  • The address for LPB Law Group is a vanity mail receipt service in prestigious Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania. A Google search will show this address is shared by many other unrelated businesses:

225 Wilmington West Chester Pike. Suite 200. Chadds Ford, PA 19317

The Philadelphia corporate filing for Abuse Guardian’s parent LLC:

A Google search of Abuse Guardian’s phone number refers people to both Abuse Guardian press releases and the law offices of affiliated lawyers in many states: (866) 577-2786. Examples:

Kevin Biniazan Daycare Abuse Lawyer Virginia
Kat Thomas New York City, NY Daycare Abuse Lawyer — Now Coded 404
Robocall Lawsuit Blog
Doctor Abuse Lawyer Anjali Nigam Houston, TX
Pennsylvania Coalition to Advance Respect (PCAR)
Clergy Abuse Lawyer Bobby Thompson San Francisco, CA
Valley Forge Military Academy Sexual Abuse Lawsuits

Martin Ramos, Jehovah’s Witnesses Church Elder, Charged With Child Sexual Abuse — This is an Abuse Guardian advertising reach into a Jehovah Witness Reddit page. This shows Abuse Guardian’s extensive marketing efforts online.

The (866) 577-2786 phone number ties all of Abuse Guardian’s press releases, affiliate lawyers, referral websites, and social media together.

The Abuse Guardian website showed Brian Kent (second row, far left) until he was exposed by Down the Rabbit Hole News:

The updated Abuse Guardian website has taken down all mentions and photos of Brian Kent. There are also 404’s showing up on the website. We are investigating to see if affiliate attorneys are leaving Abuse Guardian.

A Wayback Machine search suggests that Abuse Guardian is not a specialist sexual assault law firm. Rather, Abuse Guardian looks more like a group of lawyers that will go after any type of case:

  1. @xanedua: I’m researching this and it looks like Abuse Guardian may be collapsing, i.e. lawyers fleeing the LLC to minimize the fallout from Brian Kent. I am working to get any and all records on LPB Law Group which is doing business as Abuse Guardian. LPB Law is a Philadelphia corporation.

Former Brian Kent partner Kat Thomas publicly denounced Kent and is calling for an investigation. IMO, Brian Kent’s exposure as a predator is sending huge ripples through the US legal community. Lawyers being lawyers, they are going to talk about this quietly. Therefore, what to look for is the actual Abuse Guardian websites and links and see what is happening with the pages and links.

If I were a lawyer affiliated with Abuse Guardian, I would resign and get myself deindexed off all pages as quickly as possible. I think this is happening. I have found a few pages that are 404 status and can only be found in the Wayback Machine.

  2. Great reporting as always Jeffrey. They defo look like an MLM/Franchise “ambulance chaser” style set of “lawyers” who will do anything to profit from vulnerable victims of abuse.
Dies USA not have an organisation that investigates such charlatans? If not maybe tge DOJ ir IRS should hear about them too?
I wonder if they are ‘affiliated’ in other countries too?
I am going to contact a fellow ex JW who does advocacy work for ex JWs of abuse and see if only to warn him as it’s bad enough these cults abuse without lawyers who should be attacking the original abuse!
