Danny Masterson’s request to be released from a California prison while he appeals his two felony rape convictions was denied today by Judge Charlaine Olmedo.
When the verdicts were read in court and Masterson found guilty by the jury, his attorney Philip Cohen asked Judge Olmedo if Masterson could remain free on bail until sentencing.
Judge Olmedo ruled that Masterson was a danger to society due to the severity and violence of his crimes and denied Cohen’s request. Judge Olmedo then exonerated Masterson’s $3.3 million bail and remanded him into the custody of the LA Sheriff’s Department for incarceration until his sentencing.
Following Judge Olmedo’s sentence of 15 years to life for each of Masterson’s two crimes — and these sentences are to be served consecutively – Masterson has now appealed his conviction.
We think Masterson has zero chance at appeal.
