Illegality and Public Policy Considerations

Ralph Reed, the Faith & Freedom Coalition, and Scientology

II Corinthians 6:14-17: “Don’t team up with those who are unbelievers. How can righteousness be a partner with wickedness? How can light live with darkness? What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil? How can a believer be a partner with an unbeliever?

Scientologists Joy Villa and Stacy Francis appeared this week at Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Coalition’s “Road to a Majority” event in Washington D.C. The event featured keynote speaker Vice President Mike Pence; several US Senators and Congresspeople; and other Christian Evangelical luminaries including Kellyanne Conway.

This creates quite a tangled mess for Ralph Reed as the anti-Semitic Nation of Islam is a part of the Church of Scientology whereas the Faith and Freedom Coalition are staunch supporters of Israel and the Jewish people, this as shown by Faith and Freedom’s tweets:

The next headache this creates for Ralph Reed is that Joy Villa is pro-LGBTQ whereas the Faith and Freedom Coalition oppose both gay marriage and special protections for LGBTQ people. For Reed and his followers there is no escaping what is written in the books of Leviticus, Romans, I Corinthians, and Timothy — not to mention Yahweh’s wholesale destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah.

The third problem for Ralph Reed is that a person cannot be both a Christian and a Scientologist. Reed knows theology and scripture from his decades of fighting in the trenches of the Culture War. Why did he allow Scientologists pretending to be Christians into his 2018 Road to Majority event? Who on Reed’s staff approved the appearances of Stacy Francis and Joy Villa?

SCIENTOLOGY’S CONTINUING INFILTRATION OF EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CIRCLES

For Scientologists Joy Villa and Stacy Francis to appear clearly shows a continuing operation on the part of the Church of Scientology to inject itself into American Christian Evangelical political circles at the highest levels. From my perspective, this is being done in a frantic bid to “safepoint” Scientology and its tax exemption.

The lie Scientology has to repeatedly tell to to get its people into Evangelical political circles is that one can be both a Scientologist and a Christian. Alternately, Scientology will downplay the matter and claim that Scientology is merely a set of self-help tools. However, as we showed in an earlier article, Scientology insists that it not only a religion, but in fact has long promoted itself as the fastest growing religion in the world.

Scientologist Joy Villa has been active in Evangelical Christian circles by promoting the lies that Scientology is a set of self-help tools and that Scientologists can also be Christians. We present the evidence of why these are lies in our previous articles:

Why You Can’t be a Christian and a Scientologist

Scientology’s Secret Teachings about Jesus Christ

In this article we seek to be the Watchman on the Wall and warn Ralph Reed and his followers of the dangerous quicksand into which they are sliding by getting involved in any way whatsoever with the Satanic Church of Scientology. Joy Villa has fooled other trusting Christians.

SCIENTOLOGY’S LOBBYIST GREG MITCHELL

We begin by identifying Scientology’s long-time D.C. lobbyist Greg Mitchell. President Trump has called for criminal justice reform. Ralph Reed’s Faith and Freedom Foundation supports Trump’s efforts on criminal justice reform. Unsurprisingly, Mitchell was quick to jump on the bandwagon. This got Mitchell a White House invite as Holly Harris tweeted and Mitchell retweeted:

The Church of Scientology has long been a bottom-feeder in interfaith groups. Greg Mitchell works through a front group called the International Religious Freedom Roundtable (IRF). Mitchell also injects Scientology into secular activities such as Trump’s call for criminal justice reform. The likely play for Scientology and Mitchell here is to get government funding for Criminon programs under the aegis of criminal justice reform. Scientology is notorious for trying to suck on the government teat as it has done with its L. Ron Hubbard-based study tech and Narconon programs. This works until Scientology is exposed as the group behind study tech and Narconon and then funding is cut.

JOY VILLA’S RIDICULOUS 2017 TWEET

In 2017 Scientologist Joy Villa made a ridiculous tweet in which she claimed she and her “political adviser” Greg Mitchell had a meeting that turned into a prayer session. Villa noted that people came up and began prophesying and laying their hands on both herself and Mitchell. This preposterous tale of a breakfast meeting turning into an ecstatic prayer session in which the Holy Ghost descended from on high is made more amusing by the fact that, at the time, Joy Villa was contemplating a run for the US Congress. We are lead to ask if the saints of God prophesying over Villa and Mitchell prophetically informed them that Villa’s Congressional aspirations would be an abysmal failure that ended with her selling Joy Villa singing pens.

SCIENTOLOGY’S LUIS GONZALEZ

Luis Gonzalez is the “Humanitarian Programs Director” at the Church of Scientology International (CSI) and is involved in the Cult’s interfaith efforts as well. Luis Gonzalez’s LinkedIn page. Google “Luis Gonzalez Scientology” and can see the extent of Gonzalez’s involvement. Of interest on Gonzalez’s LinkedIn page is this:

As the Humanitarian Programs Director, I am responsible for providing support to our secular education programs that effectively curb drug abuse, instill tolerance, raise awareness of human rights and uplift morality across whole populations.

Here we have Luis Gonzalez admitting that Scientology’s secular groups are actually supported by the Church. This is key data point to keep in the dossier.

SCIENTOLOGIST SHERRY VAN HOOTEGEM

A tweet sent out by Ralph Reed after the 2017 Road to Majority event was responded to by Scientologist Sherry Van Hootegem on behalf of the Greg Mitchell Group. Thus we see Greg Mitchell and his fellow Scientologists courting Ralph Reed and the Faith and Freedom Coalition in 2017. Last week Joy Villa and Stacy Francis appeared at Reed’s 2018 event. What did Scientology or  Mitchell (or perhaps even Reed?) do to get Villa and Francis appearances at the 2018 event?

WHY IS RALPH REED INVOLVED — VIA SCIENTOLOGY — WITH THE NATION OF ISLAM?

The anti-Semitic Nation of Islam is, for all intents and purposes, now a part of the Church of Scientology. NOI members have gone “Clear” in Scientology and many are now moving up and onto Scientology’s OT levels.

In his recent Savior’s Day Speech, Farrakhan attacked Jews and white people. Over against this, Rabbi Heir and the Simon Wiesenthal Center gave Scientologist Tom Cruise its Humanitarian award in 2011. The Church of Scientology is clearly exploiting as many groups as possible as we see in this juxtaposition of images:

Scientologist Louis Farrakhan denounces Jews and white people. Tom Cruise receives a humanitarian award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center. The Scientology Cult works both sides of the spectrum: Anti-Semitism and Pro-Israel. Scientology is using its own “Third Party Law” to simultaneously pander to, and polarize, the anti-Semitic and Pro-Israel camps. This is as hypocritical and two-faced as it gets. But this is what Scientology is all about: Be all things to all people in order to advance Scientology’s own interests.

THE NATION OF ISLAM, SCIENTOLOGY, AND HOMOPHOBIA

In this next juxtaposition of images we see the Nation of Islam attacking the “Homosexual Conspiracy” even as Scientologist Joy Villa celebrates the LGBTQ Pride Month. Again, this is Scientology speaking out of all sides of its mouth. This is what Ralph Reed and the Faith and Freedom Coalition have become a party to by association with Joy Villa, Stacy Francis, Scientology and the Nation of Islam:

Joy Villa has not denounced the homophobia of her fellow Scientologists in the Nation of Islam nor can she do so. David Miscavige and Scientology are playing to both the homophobic Evangelical community and the LGBTQ community.

While Scientologist Joy Villa celebrates LGBTQ Pride, Ralph Reed and Faith and Freedom Coalition condemn the LGBTQ community and gay marriage based upon unequivocal Biblical doctrine that condemns homosexuality. That Joy Villa claims to be pro-LGBTQ when the Bible clearly condemns LGBTQ people shows Villa is not a real Christian and, in fact, is a heretic in this regards. The books of Leviticus and Hebrews state the Judeo-Christian doctrines on LGTBQ matters in unequivocal terms.

Ralph Reed and Faith and Freedom Coalition oppose gay marriage. As Yahoo reported:

Despite national polling showing that support for legal same-sex marriage is growing, Reed said, activists who favor same-sex marriage rights have struggled to overturn longstanding marriage laws through the ballot box. He told the group that supporters of same-sex marriage don’t seek voter initiatives because they believe they will have more success in the courts.

“They have to do this by judicial fiat,” Reed said.

L. RON HUBBARD’S CONDEMNATION OF LGTBQ PERSONS

In terms of the depth of Joy Villa’s lies, L. Ron Hubbard condemned homosexuals. Hubbard wrote in Dianetics:

The sexual pervert (and by this term dianetics, to be brief, includes any and all forms of deviation in Dynamic II such as homosexuality, lesbianism, sexual sadism, etc. and all down the catalogue of Ellis and Krafft-Ebing) is actually quite ill physically. Perversion as an illness has so many manifestations that it must be spread through the entire gamut of classes from (1) to (5) above. Over-development of sexual organs, underdevelopment, seminal inhibition or magnification, etc. are found some in one pervert, some in another. And the sum of it is that the pervert is always a very ill person in one way or another, whether he is conscious of it or not. He is very far from culpable for his condition, but he is also so far from normal and so extremely dangerous to society that the tolerance of perversion is as thoroughly bad for society as punishment for it. Lacking proper means prior to this time, society has been caught between tolerance and punishment, and the problem of perversion has, of course, not been resolved.

The Krafft-Ebing catalogue to which Hubbard referred was created by the German psychiatrist Richard Freiherr von Krafft Ebing and was published in his 1886 work Psychopathia Sexualis. The book catalogued what Krafft Ebing called “sexual psychopathologies” in which he, for example, horrifically conflated homosexuality with what he called sexual lust-murder.

Hubbard’s denunciation of LGBTQ persons gets even stranger when we consider that Hubbard cited the German psychiatrist Krafft Ebing as his authority. Hubbard hated psychiatrists with a vengeance and this became institutionalized in Scientology’s declared mission to destroy psychiatry. Nevertheless, early in the Dianetics movement when Hubbard was trying to appear scientific and academic he hypocritically embraced Freud, Krafft Ebing, and other psychiatrists.

Joy Villa disregards both the Bible and L. Ron Hubbard in her embrace of the LGTBQ community. True to Scientology form, Villa is speaking out of all sides of her mouth in her attempt to be all things to all people. Moreover, Villa has to overlook the anti-Semitism and homophobia of her fellow Scientologists in the Nation of Islam. The Miami Herald’s Leonard Pitts Jr. recently reported on Scientologist and Nation of Islam leader Mr. Farrakhan blaming the Jews for promoting lesbianism and homosexuality:

The leader of the Nation of Islam has, for years, been a toxic fount of anti-Semitic and homophobic rhetoric. “These false Jews,” he preached in 2006, “promote the filth of Hollywood that is seeding the American people and the people of the world and bringing you down in moral strength. …It’s the wicked Jews, the false Jews, that are promoting lesbianism, homosexuality. It’s the wicked Jews, false Jews, that make it a crime for you to preach the word of God, then they call you homophobic!”

Scientologists Stacy Francis, Alfreddie Johnson, and Louis Farrakhan.

Mr. Farrakhan speaking at the 2018 Savior’s Day event:

“Jews were responsible for all of this filth and degenerate behavior that Hollywood is putting out, turning men into women and women into men…. White folks are going down. And Satan is going down. And Farrakhan, by God’s grace, has pulled a cover off of that Satanic Jew, and I’m here to say your time is up, your world is through.  You good Jews better separate because the satanic ones will take you to hell with them because that’s where they are headed.”

Farrakhan couldn’t give it a rest and had to belabor the point in graphic terms:

Do you know that many of us who go to Hollywood seeking a chance have to submit to anal sex and all kind [sic] of debauchery [before] they give you a little part? It’s called the casting couch. See, that’s Jewish power.

Inasmuch as Ralph Reed allowed Scientologists Stacy Francis and Joy Villa to promote themselves — and by extension Scientology and the Nation of Islam — Reed has given his consent for both himself and his Faith and Freedom Coalition to become tools of the Church of Scientology of the Nation of Islam. This bears further investigation as to how this was allowed to happen.

To add a typically surreal Scientology ending to this matter, here is a video of Stacy Francis (who dined with her fellow Scientologist the anti-Semite Louis Farrakhan) singing for Scientologist Tom Cruise (who received an humanitarian award from the Simon Wiesenthal Center):

Scientology TV, Taryn Teutsch, and L. Ron Hubbard’s Disgusting View of Women

Leila.Grace.Foundation.1

Taryn Teutsch spoke at the Leila Grace Foundation. This foundation is a, “is a non-profit organization that provides sexual assault awareness for college students across the country. It’s main focus is to provide education, which can reduce the risk of sexual assaults on college campuses.” Taryn’s eight year old “fake news Fair Game story” has nothing to do with rape or sexual assault. Why is Taryn trying to exploit the Leila Grace Foundation?

Scientology leader David Miscavige spent $100 million dollars and took seven years to launch Scientology TV. Miscavige boasted that his pricey television network would serve as the Church of Scientology’s “uncorrupted communication line to the billions.”

Despite having Scientology TV at his command, David Miscavige has kept Mike Rinder’s daughter Taryn Teutsch off the $100 million network.

Why?

If Taryn Teutsch’s story is so important then why isn’t David Miscavige giving it prime time repeat coverage on Scientology TV? Aren’t such stories the reason why the $100 million network exists?

David Miscavige has his reasons for demoting Taryn’s story to wog social media and paying click farms so that Taryn can have thousands of fake followers. Miscavige knows that Taryn’s
stale old fabricated story about her father assaulting her mother is bogus. Per the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office report, the events Taryn claims to have happened never actually happened. The Sheriff’s Office said there was no crime, no victim, and only “incidental contact” was made as Mike Rinder attempted to extricate himself while surrounded by a mob of hysterical, angry, and screaming Scientologists.

You can hear Cathy Bernardini, daughter Taryn Teutsch, and the other angry Scientologists  profanely screaming at Mike Rinder on this audio recorded by John Sweeney who worked as a journalist for the BBC from 2001 to 2014. Mike and John were talking on the phone when the April 2010 ambush went down. Cathy Bernardini repeatedly drops the F bomb:

Mike Rinder retreated from the parking lot into the doctor’s office where his girlfriend (and now his wife) Christie Collbran was. The angry Scientology mob tried to follow him into the doctor’s office and the police had to be called. It can all be heard on the Sweeney recording. This tape puts the lie to Taryn Teutsch and Cathy Bernardini’s account. They were both part of the Scientology lynch mob that ambushed Mike. Taryn never shares this audio when she speaks to women’s groups.

Scientology TV would never dare broadcast this recording. To this point, if David Miscavige wanted Taryn’s malicious fantasy told all he need do is order Scientology TV to produce a series of episodes and then air it 24/7 to the billions of people he claims his network can reach. However, as Taryn’s Fair Game narrative about her father is fake news unsupported by the facts, David Miscavige has to keep Scientology TV unsullied by Taryn. This leaves Taryn to press her attack in the social media.

What is heinous in Taryn’s Teutsch’s conduct — and that of the Church of Scientology — is that Taryn is peddling her fabricated story to groups that are concerned with either helping women who are the survivors of rape and sexual harassment or the prevention of rape and sexual harassment through education. Taryn’s fabricated story has nothing to do with rape or sexual assault. So why is Taryn shamelessly exploiting these groups?

L. Ron Hubbard and Rape Culture

Tony Ortega today published a story today in which Christie’s is auctioning off two letters written by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard in 1948. In one of the letters Hubbard writes of the “treatment” he gave to a group of women:

“I went to work and got me a flock of ambulant lunatics from a matrimonial bureau and began to work on them,” he writes. “Six out of ten unfrigidized and went practically nympho and I had a hound’s time trying to undo the over-compensation and normalize it.”

Hubbard brags that he “unfrigidized” women and turned them into veritable nymphomaniacs even as Taryn Teutsch is speaking at the Leila Grace Foundation, a rape prevention group. But it gets worse as Ortega notes:

We’re reminded of another letter Hubbard wrote at about this time, a 1949 letter to another close friend and Hubbard’s literary agent, Forrest Ackerman. Hubbard told “Forrie” that with dianetics…

“…you can rape women without their knowing it, communicate suicide messages to your enemies as they sleep, sell the Arroyo Seco parkway to the mayor for cash, evolve the best way of protecting or destroying communism, and other handy house hold hints. If you go crazy, remember you were warned.”

Taryn Teutsch attempts to weave a fabricated narrative of spousal abuse against the backdrop of L. Ron Hubbard’s heinous rapine boasting to his literary agent Forrest Ackerman that Dianetics will allow men to, “rape women without their knowing it.” And it gets even worse. As covered by Tony Ortega, L. Ron Hubbard wrote a shocking passage in which he excuses male pedophile behavior and blames the child victim:

There are two axioms about mind function with which the auditor should be familiar…The first axiom is of interest to the auditor in his work because with it he can clearly establish whether or not he is confronting a rational reaction. The seven-year-old girl who shudders because a man kisses her is not computing; she is reacting to an engram since at seven she should see nothing wrong in a kiss, not even a passionate one. There must have been an earlier experience, possibly prenatal, which made men or kissing very bad.

Hubbard wrote that a seven year old girl should not react to being passionately kissed by an adult male. Taryn Teutsch ignores Hubbard’s shocking and inexcusable writings about raping women and men passionately kissing seven year old girls — and she ignores it while peddling her fake story at women’s centers that seek to prevent rape and sexual harassment.

In his notorious Admissions, Hubbard wrote of women:

Your own pleasure is not dependent on the woman’s. You are interested only in your own sexual pleasure. If she gets any that is all right but not vital. Many women are not capable of pleasure in sex and anything adverse they say or do has no effect whatever upon your pleasure. Their bodies thrill you. If they repel you, it merely means they themselves are too frigid or prudish to be bothered with. They are unimportant in bed except as they thrill you. Your sexual power is magnificent and they know it. If they are afraid of it, that is their loss. You are not affected by it.

You have no fear if they conceive. What if they do? You do not care. Pour it into them and let fate decide.

The slipperier they are the more you enjoy it because it means their mucous is running madly with pleasure.

There is nothing wrong in the sex act. Nothing any woman may say can change your opinion. You are a master. You are as sensitive and sexy as Pan. Lord help women when you begin to fondle them. You are master of their bodies, master of their souls as you may consciously wish. You have no karma to pay for these acts. You cannot now accumulate karma for you are a master adept.

(Scroll down to the bottom of this page to read Hubbard’s Admissions in PDF form)

Scientologist Taryn Teutsch is attempting to identify herself with rape prevention and sexual harassment prevention groups. She does this even as the founder of Scientology was a demented misogynist whose dehumanization of women and girls as sexual objects is proven by his own words. Hubbard’s Admissions contain his view of women and have long been exposed online. Who do Taryn and OSA think they’re fooling?

In a further attempt to legitimatize her breathtaking hypocrisy and social media fraud, Taryn Teutsch has even posted photos of herself with distinguished women such as Gretchen Carlson and Fox LA’s Christine Devine who did not know their names and images would be used in a Scientology Fair Game smear campaign ultimately aimed at destroying Mike Rinder and Leah Remini for their efforts to expose Scientology.

When informed that her name and image had been misappropriated by an agent of the Church of Scientology, Gretchen Carlson’s response was to ask how to get her picture taken down from Taryn’s Twitter account:

Predictably, the LAPD — an agency that is suspiciously far too friendly with the Church of Scientology — is only too happy to lend its name and command officers to Taryn Teutsch’s smear campaign. The LAPD is always there for Scientology:

The Failed Logic Behind Scientology’s Curious Super Bowl Campaign

The Church of Scientology’s 2018 multi-million dollar Super Bowl ad strategy can now be seen as the grandiose and abject failure it is. Essentially, Scientology wanted to accomplish two conflicting goals that cancelled each other out:

1. Scientology wanted to use the marketing angle of “Curious?” to drive traffic to Scientology’s websites and thereby raise awareness of what Scientology is according to Scientology itself.

2. At the same time it broadcast its Super Bowl ad, the next batch of attack videos by professional Scientology troll Marty Rathbun were released. A mere coincidence? Of course not. In these pompous and unconvincing propaganda videos, Rathbun attempts to discredit Leah Remini, Mike Rinder, Tony Ortega and Leah’s Emmy-winning show Scientology and the Aftermath. If anything, these videos show how far Marty has fallen from his once high estate:

In what was supposed to be, apparently, a masterstroke of Scientology PR genius, the Super Bowl ad campaign was intended to promote Scientology. Simultaneously, Marty Rathbun’s videos were to be used as a flanking maneuver to discredit Leah, Mike, and Tony. However, this strategy failed as Scientology still has its hate websites up on Marty Rathbun. Thus, on the one hand Scientology wants to use Rathbun as a credible source to discredit Leah, Mike, and Tony while simultaneously portraying Marty Rathbun as a violent psychopath, a perjurer, and a liar on its own websites.

THE SCHEMATIC OF SCIENTOLOGY FAILURE

Scientology is using Twitter where one can see this all being played out. Schematically, Scientology illogic looks like this:
Anyone who becomes curious about Scientology and uses Google to do research will quickly discover that Scientology leader David Miscavige is a violent psychopath who has physically assaulted numerous members of his staff. Likewise, anyone who does research will discover that Scientology has hate websites on Marty Rathbun describing him in the same terms as David Miscavige. Why Scientology spent millions of dollars on its Super Bowl ad campaign and failed to address this inherent and crippling contradiction speaks to David Miscavige’s typical overreaching behavior. No one out here in the real world was fooled.

IS THE PUBLIC REALLY THAT CURIOUS ABOUT SCIENTOLOGY?

Scientology is using Twitter to argue that people are “curious” about Scientology and are flocking to Scientology’s website as a result. However, as Scientology’s own graphic below shows, Scientology is paying .64-.78 USD per click to drive traffic to its website. The graphic also shows a Scientology spend of $383,000 for organic search and $14,700 for paid search thus far. Again, no one is fooled: Scientology has just publicly admitted that it has to pay millions of dollars for a Super Bowl ad and hundreds of thousands of dollars for clicks to get anyone to look at its websites.

Scientology’s Super Bowl ad and Marty’s attack videos are a pair of bookends that are supposed to boom Scientology while destroying its critics. Are you serious Scientology? That’s all you have? A paid Super Bowl ad, paid clicks, and Marty Rathbun? Good luck betting on this Trifecta of Fail.

As stated, the big problem is that Marty Rathbun has zero credibility according to Scientology itself. The Church of Scientology still has its hate websites up on Marty. As we have asked before: Which story are you sticking with Scientology? Is Marty a credible source or he is a violent psychopath, a liar, and a perjurer as you depict him on your own website? If Marty is a liar and a perjurer, then why should the public believe anything he says?

Scientology’s Freedom Magazine currently carries this article about Marty in which he is called a lunatic with a history of psychological problems:

However, on a different Freedom Magazine webpage, Freedom links to the lunatic Rathbun’s attack videos on Leah Remini, Mike Rinder, and Tony Ortega and declares:

He’s [Marty Rathbun] recorded his knowledge of their plans, their unsavory traits, and their rank manipulation of show participants, in a 27-part video series on YouTube, “Leah Remini and Her Troublemakers.”

Having been an onscreen participant in both seasons of Leah’s show, I can tell you that the show is unrehearsed and unscripted. There is no manipulation of participants by Leah or anyone else on the set. What Marty Rathbun has said in this regard is a lie. I resent Marty lying about it, but given his disreputable behavior and the other lies he has told over the past several years I am not surprised.

Freedom Magazine repeats Rathbun’s lies about Leah’s show even as Freedom calls him a
violent psychopath, a liar, and a perjurer. Freedom even takes it one step further by linking to Rathbun’s YouTube video channel. Why would Freedom link to the videos of a man it has called a lunatic with a history of psychological problems? This question is rhetorical of course. The fact is that Freedom Magazine’s self-serving and transparent double standard is not acceptable in legitimate journalism. Freedom Magazine is nothing more than fake news, a mouthpiece for a Cult long known for its history of lying. Likewise, Rathbun’s videos are fake news. For example, Rathbun used a recent video to outrageously claim that Scientology was free from child abuse and sexual abuse. Valeska Paris tweeted about this:

From all appearances, Marty Rathbun is back to being David Miscavige’s “fixer” who is now the onscreen talent charged with attacking Scientology’s critics and former members.

DAVID MISCAVIGE’S SCHIZOPHRENIA

David Miscavige’s multi-million dollar 2018 Super Bowl ad campaign fails because it talks out of both sides of its mouth and is underpinned by Marty Rathbun. Marty is the weak link in the chain and yet Scientology needs him to help spin its web of lies, treachery and deceit.

That David Miscavige is capable of living a life of such hypocrisy, delusion, and unreality is nothing new. Indeed, “Captain” Miscavige — a man in a fake Navy uniform festooned with fake military medals — has claimed that infinity has a front porch and that Scientologists can travel faster than light.

Cult Paradox: Why Scientology Is Collapsing As a Function of Its Burgeoning Real Estate Empire

The Church of Scientology is so heavily entrenched in Downtown Clearwater that it has become harmful to the community. Scientology does not pay taxes on its huge portfolio of tax-exempt properties in Clearwater and yet demands police and fire services, uses the roads, freeways, and other public infrastructure. Worse, Scientology has driven businesses, redevelopment, and tourism dollars out of Downtown Clearwater, thus further depressing the economy and tax base of Clearwater. In 2017, Scientology even announced its brazen plans for what amounted to a hostile corporate takeover of Downtown Clearwater. The details are quite alarming as can be seen in an excellent and highly detailed article by Tracy McManus of The Tampa Bay Times.

Compounding matters, John P. Capitalist recently noted that many public Scientologists are moving out of Clearwater, Florida to escape the never-ending onslaught of Scientology regges. In  Scientology “registrars” are called “regges” and are actually salespeople. All across Scientology, the regges demand donations on a daily basis. It is very bad in Clearwater and Los Angeles where the largest concentrations of Scientologists live. John P. wrote of the public Scientologists in Clearwater:

…I’ve heard from several sources that a number of longtime members have moved out [of Clearwater] in order to avoid visits from desperate “regges” in the middle of the night ringing the doorbell and demanding cash. They’re claiming to be moving for innocuous reasons like “to be closer to the grandkids,” but apparently they’re just tired of the stress and want to deal with the cult from a distance. It’s not clear how many people are making the move, but even a few sure makes it sound like the rank-and-file (all those dentists, chiropractors and small business owners) are reaching a saturation point.

It is quite true that Scientology regges do show up unannounced at any hour of the day or night at the homes and businesses of public Scientologists to demand money. I personally know dozens of former Scientologists to whom this happened. In many cases, when the public Scientologists refused to answer their front door, the rampaging regges went into backyards and beat on the patio doors in an attempt to flush their quarry from hiding. Deplorable conduct but it is nevertheless true.

As Scientology regges are usually Sea Org members, public Scientologists who treat them rudely or object to their intrusive tactics can get in very serious trouble with the Church for doing so. These salespeople are deemed to be helping “Clear the Planet” and so their unwanted intrusions are considered justified by Church management. For this reason, public Scientologists have taken to refusing to answer their doors and have stopped answering their phones as a means to avoid the greedy Scientology fundraisers. These hapless public Scientologists choose to hide as they know the regges have complete immunity to engage in predatory and intrusive tactics that include invading the privacy and sanctity of one’s own home.

John P.’s observation of the flight of public Scientologists from Clearwater led me to create this simplified graph and the accompanying commentary:

J. Swift’s Scientology Real Estate Axiom #1: The more real estate the Cult of Scientology owns in a given area, the more public Scientologists will flee the area, refuse to accept regging phone calls, attend regging briefings, or accept unannounced and intrusive home regging visits. This “Public Scientologist Money Flight” occurs as a function of an ever-increasing number of Scientology fundraising personnel occupying buildings that contain competing Orgs, Scientology front groups, and Scientology fundraising programs.

In practice, each new piece of Scientology real estate becomes a standalone business operating unit within the Scientology corporate structure. These standalone operating units are called “Orgs” or “Social Betterment Groups” and each has its own weekly fundraising quotas.  Scientology also has fundraising programs for both current and planned programs. These fundraising activities also have weekly financial quotas. All of these separate business operating units result in intense competition within Scientology for a shrinking pool of donations.

TAX EXEMPT STATUS + ENDLESS FUNDRAISING = SCIENTOLOGY REAL ESTATE EMPIRE

As a condition of receiving tax exemption, US tax law requires religious tax exempt organizations to spend money in the public benefit. For example, if Catholic churches  provide free services to the homeless this is seen as helping to reduce the tax burden on the US Government. Hence, tax exemption is viewed as a form of exchange. L. Ron Hubbard, however, taught that giving anyone anything for free was wrong. Hubbard said charity was “rewarding a downstat” as it rewarded people for doing nothing. Hubbard’s 1950’s view of poverty was that poor people were lazy; did not want to work; were worthless; and only wanted free welfare checks and handouts.

Hubbard’s 1950 view of poverty became Scientology doctrine. Given Scientology’s doctrinal refusal to engage in charity, the only things Scientology can actually spend its money on are real estate, self-promotion, and financing its perpetual state of warfare with those people and groups it deems enemies. This spending plan results in the Scientology we see today: A self-aggrandizing, angry, paranoid, and hostile cultic group characterized by its bloated real estate holdings and its insane and lavishly-financed wars against former members, critics, the media, and those governments that oppose Scientology and correctly see it as a for-profit business.

THE PARADOX IN WHICH THE SCIENTOLOGY CULT IS TRAPPED

The endless purchasing of real estate by Scientology is paradoxically and ultimately self-destructive as it acts to exponentially increase fundraising pressures amongst competing Scientology business units while simultaneously driving membership and donations out of the Church. Scientology incessantly boasts that the growth in square footage it owns proves Scientology is growing. However, this is a misdirection. While Scientology’s real estate portfolio is indeed growing, the Cult quietly sweeps the real story of its shocking membership decline under the rug.

Scientology’s Ideal Org program was a debacle which proved that the more real estate Scientology purchases and accumulates, the fewer members it will have. The Ideal Org scam drove untold thousands of people out of Scientology due to incessant fundraising demands. Likewise, the Basics book campaign was a giant $100,000,000+ cynical money grab that saw legions of people leave Scientology.

The pointless accumulation of real estate by Scientology is a function of its tax exemption and L. Ron Hubbard’s policy that endless fundraising must occur. What Hubbard called “new money” must be brought into the Scientology each week. The smallest possible portion of this “new money” is spent paying expenses. Hubbard mandated that the remaining money be locked away in untouchable reserves. Hubbard purposely designed Scientology to generate large cash reserves. This is why Scientology’s main focus is on money. Because the IRS does not allow excessive capital accumulation by tax exempt entities, however, Scientology spends part of its reserves on the items described above.

Scientology also spends the minimum amount of money possible on its Sea Org labor force. Sea Org members live far below the US poverty level of $13,860 in annual income for an individual. Legally speaking, Sea Org members are not employees and are classed as religious volunteers. As such, they receive a meager weekly stipend of $50, usually less, plus room and board. Scientology’s goal is to spend the least possible amount of money on Sea Org members while demanding the maximum amount of production. Sea Org members routinely work 80-100 hours per week. A Sea Org work week is six and one half days in duration.  One half day is given to do laundry and clean one’s berthing area. Scientology’s slave labor program also applies to the child labor Scientology uses in the Sea Org.

FLAG LAND BASE

As an illustration of my premise, Scientology’s Flag Land Base in Clearwater, Florida has numerous Orgs, Scientology front groups, and  fundraising programs that compete with each other daily for an ever-shrinking volume of donations. Here is what a Scientologist can be expected to donate to, or pay for, on a trip to Flag Land Base; this list is not exhaustive:

1. Flag Service Organization — Mandatory donations for auditing services and courses
2. The International Association of Scientologists — Scientology’s multibillion dollar slush fund
3. Lodgings at one of the several Scientology-owned hotels
4. Meals at one of the several Scientology-owned restaurants
5. Citizens Commission on Human Rights — The rabid anti-Psychiatry component of Scientology
6. The Way to Happiness Foundation — A Scientology Front Group
7. Youth for Human Rights — A Scientology Front Group
8. United for Human Rights — A Scientology Front Group
9. Foundation for a Drug Free World — A Scientology Front Group
10. Applied Scholastics — A Scientology Front Group
11. Criminon — A Scientology Front Group
12. Volunteer Ministers — A Scientology Front Group
13. The Basics Book Campaign — Fundraising to put L. Ron Hubbard’s books into libraries
14. The Ideal Org Campaign — Fundraising to buy more real estate called “Ideal Orgs”
15. The Archival Project — Fundraising to store L. Ron Hubbard’s works in nuclear proof vaults
16. Advanced Payments — Scientologists are asked to donate money now future services later
17. The L. Ron Hubbard Hall — a planned auditorium in Clearwater

MONASTERY SCIENTOLOGY

Monastery Scientology is a term I coined in 2008 when I predicted that Scientology will be drained of its middle class parishioners and become a haven for only the wealthiest of Scientologists who can afford to stay in the game. Monastery Scientology is becoming inevitable as only the wealthiest and most status-obsessed Scientologists will remain in the Cult of Scientology.

At present, the Cult is in a Palace of Versailles phase in which wealthy Scientologists vie for David Miscavige’s attention and favor as signified by a competition for larger and gaudier IAS statuses and trophies. These statuses and trophies require wealthy Scientologists to increase ever-larger amounts of cash to Scientology.

The prime example of failure in this pointless Palace of Versailles status race was Scientologist Richie Acunto. After donating ten million dollars to Scientology, his Survival Insurance company went bankrupt. And to his ignominy — and that of Scientology —  Richie’s ten million dollar IAS trophy languished in a storage locker. When Richie failed to pay rent on the storage locker, its contents were sold at auction. Richie’s $10,000,000 trophy was sold on eBay to the highest bidder. The Church of Scientology was likely the highest bidder as the Acunto trophy has never been seen since it was sold on eBay. Again, another inconvenient matter swept under the rug. Richie Acunto has been long forgotten by Scientology.

This Palace of Versailles phase is characterized by a never-ending series of useless galas awash in flimsily contrived stories of imagined Scientology global triumphs, wildly inflated and nonsensical statistics, and garish trophies and awards. One of Scientology’s more patently absurd claims is that the mere distribution of its insipid Way to Happiness booklet reduced crime in Colombia by 50 percent.

In the terse no-nonsense language of American corporate life these events can be correctly described as circle jerks.

Truth Revealed: The Church of Scientology Finally Explains How It Has Millions of Members

The Church of Scientology International (CSI) is the “Mother Church” of Scientology. As the official Mother Church, CSI makes this bold statement on one of its official websites:

The truth is that there are millions of individuals who participate in Scientology services and apply it to their lives.

In the very next sentence, CSI identifies the source for its claim that millions of individuals participate in Scientology:

This is according to the individual Churches that maintain the names of their parishioners and a record of their progress up the Scientology Bridge.

While all parishioners’ records are securely maintained at their local Church, the names and addresses of members of all Churches and Missions are provided to Church of Scientology International (CSI), which maintains the mailing list for Church magazines disseminated to all Scientologists. Our numbers come from this international list.

Parishioners’ records are not securely maintained and can be, in fact, culled by OSA to find dirt on Scientologists. Parishioners’ records can also be culled to help regges find “buttons” to raise more money. Laura Dieckman’s legal case has shown us that over 100 people have access to pc folders. And yet CSI claims that Parishioners’ records are securely maintained. Given that this statement is false, we must also treat with scrutiny CSI’s claim “that there are millions of individuals who participate in Scientology services and apply it to their lives.”

There are five glaringly obvious problems with CSI’s claim that millions of people are participating in Scientology:

1. Who are the people at the local Scientology churches sending the names of their members to CSI? The answer is that local staff members are sending the lists of names to CSI. This is a problem because CSI has a policy in which it declares that it does not stand behind any statements or claims made by staff members:

CSI’s claim that “there are millions of individuals who participate in Scientology services and apply it to their lives” is made by Scientology staff members and therefore CSI, per its own policy, takes no responsibility for this claim or any claims made by staff members. Absent verification by an independent third party audit, the staff members reporting millions of members must be assumed to be engaged in false reporting. I say this because there is no empirical evidence whatsoever that Scientology has millions of members — and we certainly can’t believe Scientology’s staff members given the fact that CSI itself refuses to stand behind statements made by its own staff members.

2. CSI designated the IAS as the official membership organization of Scientology. Therefore, only the IAS can make a true and accurate statement of membership numbers. However, the IAS is not a part of the Church of Scientology:

Applications to join the IAS are sent to the IAS. The Church of Scientology International told the IRS that it doesn’t even get a copy of IAS applications:

4. The Church of Scientology International told the IRS that the Church does not have access to IAS records:

The information requested regarding IAS receipts and expenditure is voluminous and not readily available to CSI or any other Scientology-related organization.

5. How can CSI possibly know how many Scientologists there are if it doesn’t know how  many people have applied to the IAS for membership? The answer is that CSI has to rely on statements made by staff members. However, as we said, CSI doesn’t stand behind statements made by staff members. This is all more Scientology nonsense. And yet there it is on Scientology’s website:

Criminality and the Church of Scientology

James Kirchick’s recent op-ed in the Los Angeles Times asks, “In the world of religious tax exemptions, does Scientology measure up?”

Kirchick incisively cuts right to the bone:

Today, America’s recognition of Scientology as a religion stands as an anomaly in the Western world, the result not of impartial jurisprudence but of harassment. Four years ago, France’s highest court upheld a fraud conviction against the church, ruling that, “Far from being a violation of freedom of religion, as this American organization contends, this decision lifts the veil on the illegal and highly detrimental practices.”

Kirchick is quite correct in taking the matter of Scientology directly to the matter of criminality. Since it’s inception in 1954, the Church of Scientology has at all times operated as a criminal organization. A straightforward historical reading of L. Ron Hubbard and Scientology’s machinations, plans, and designs will bear this out. Fair Game. The Guardian’s Office. Conspiracy. Domestic espionage. Tax evasion. Infiltration. Theft. Spying. Blackmail. Coercion. Money laundering. OSA. Phony front groups. Private investigators. Forced interrogations. Beatings. Agents provocateurs. Hacking computers. It’s all there. Scientology is a classic criminal organization.

The FBI raid of July 8, 1977 on Scientology was massive; over 150 agents participated. The raid was the direct result of L. Ron Hubbard’s Program Snow White. A demonstration of Scientology’s criminality writ large, Program Snow White brought Mary Sue Hubbard to ruination:

Russia

June 2017: The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) conduct a raid on Scientology’s Moscow Headquarters.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has raided Scientology Orgs numerous times. From the Moscow Times of June 7, 2017:

The headquarters of the Church of Scientology in St. Petersburg has been raided by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) on June 6 according to the MediaZona news site. The security services accused the Church of extremism, inciting hatred, and operating an illegal business.

Hungary

Hungarian Police during the raid of Scientology’s Budapest Headquarters.

On October 22,2017 — a scant three weeks ago — The Daily Mail reported on the massive raid of Scientology made by Hungarian police:

Hungarian police carried out a search at a Church of Scientology centre in Budapest amid a probe into suspected misuse of personal information and ‘other crimes’.

More than 50 officers surrounded the church’s Budapest headquarters on one of the Hungarian capital’s busiest roads early on Wednesday.

Detectives from the National Investigation Bureau have listed the target as ‘unknown persons’ – a common designation when a specific suspect has not been identified.

In terms of comparison, 156 FBI agents participated in the raid of Scientology’s Los Angeles complex, such was the sheer volume of documents Scientology had stolen from the US government. For Hungary to send in more than 50 police officers to raid Scientology offices there indicates the seriousness and scope of the criminal investigation.

Cover Ups of Rapes and Child Sexual Abuse

The criminality of Scientology extends to the cover ups of rape and child sexual abuse. At this writing, Scientologist Danny Masterson is alleged to have committed four rapes that were covered up by the Church.

The Los Angeles Police Department & The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office

Scientology’s hideous reputation has tainted the Los Angeles Police Department as well as the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office. People are asking why the case against Danny Masterson is not moving forward despite “overwhelming evidence” as reported by the Huffington Post. Netflix has even come in for criticism as it has not stopped production of its series The Ranch in which Masterson stars. As reported by the Los Angeles Times:

A woman who previously accused actor Danny Masterson of rape — an allegation he has denied — has gone on the record to criticize Netflix for continuing with his show “The Ranch” even as it has severed ties with Kevin Spacey and Louis C.K. after allegations of sexual misconduct.

“For me, what Netflix has done feels like a continuation of how the Church of Scientology made me feel when I reported my rape to them, as well as how Danny Masterson made me feel when I would beg him for an apology, an explanation, anything,” Chrissie Carnell Bixler told the Daily Beast. “I was made to feel unimportant. I was made to feel like I didn’t matter.”

Leah Remini’s Emmy award winning A&E show Scientology and the Aftermath has given courage to many of Scientology’s victims who were in the shadows. Terrified of incurring Scientology’s vengeance for speaking out, these people are no longer afraid. Even as the mask is being ripped off the sexual abuse and culture of cover-ups in Hollywood and Washington D.C., the same is happening to Scientology. The predators are being named and called out.

Revoke Scientology’s Tax Exemption Now

The Church of Scientology is able to ply its evil trade only because its ill-gotten 1993 IRS tax exemption. According to Doug Frantz’s seminal 1997 article in the New York Times
Scientology’s Puzzling Journey From Tax Rebel to Tax Exempt it appears that then IRS Commissioner Fred Goldberg unfairly rigged the examination in favor of Scientology. As Frantz noted in his article:

Scientology entities were required to submit new applications for exemption, which were to be evaluated by the agency’s exempt organizations division. But something unusual occurred there, too.

Mr. Schoenfeld, the negotiations chairman, ordered the two tax analysts assigned to the review not to consider any substantive matters, according to I.R.S. memorandums and records in the Tax Analysts case. Those issues, Mr. Schoenfeld informed them, had been resolved…

Both analysts, Donna Moore and Terrell M. Berkovsky, wrote memorandums specifying that they had been instructed not to address issues like whether the church was engaged in too much commercial activity or whether its activities provided undue private benefit to its leaders.

IRS tax analysts were forbidden from considering substantive matters. Why did Commissioner Goldberg give such an order? This seems to be a serious violation of IRS rules. Did Commissioner Goldberg violate the US Constitution he was sworn to uphold?

As the 9th Circuit Court noted in Sklar v. Commissioner, the IRS expressed an unconstitutional denominational preference for Scientology by granting it tax exemption:

The Supreme Court has developed a framework for determining whether a statute grants an unconstitutional denominational preference. Under that test, articulated in Larson v. Valente, 456 U.S. 228, 246-47, 102 S.Ct. 1673, 72 L.Ed.2d 33 (1982), the first inquiry is whether or not the law facially discriminates amongst religions. The second inquiry, should it be found that the law does so discriminate, is whether or not, applying strict scrutiny, that discrimination is justified by a compelling governmental interest. Applying this test to the policy of the IRS towards the Church of Scientology, the initial inquiry must be whether the policy facially discriminates amongst religions. Clearly it does, as this tax deduction is available only to members of the Church of Scientology…

Because the facial preference for the Church of Scientology embodied in the IRS’s policy regarding its members cannot be justified by a compelling governmental interest, we would, if required to decide the case on the ground urged by the Sklars, first determine that the IRS policy constitutes an unconstitutional denominational preference under Larson, 456 U.S. at 230, 102 S.Ct. 1673.

It is time for acting IRS Commissioner David Kautter and Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin to jointly call for an investigation into Scientology’s tax exemption. Scientology engaged in fraud and misrepresented material facts to the IRS to gain its tax exemption. The 9th Circuit opined in Sklar that the IRS granting Scientology tax exemption constituted an unconstitutional denominational preference.

Since gaining tax exemption Scientology has continued to engage in violations of public policy, bad faith, lies, and psycho-terrorism all funded by tax exempt dollars. This is an outrage. The illegality doctrine clearly applies in the case of the Church of Scientology:

Actress Elisabeth Moss Joins Scientology’s Elite “Fuck You” Club

After winning an Emmy for her performance in Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale, actress Elisabeth Moss joined Scientology’s exclusive celebrity Fuck You Club — this as seen in the photo above. Very classy Elisabeth. Great PR for the Church of Scientology. We also understood your gesture as a fuck you to those who don’t like the Church of Scientology. Congratulation on winning an Emmy. However, your Emmy doesn’t change any of the facts about the depravity of the Church of Scientology.

The Scientology Fuck You Club was founded by Tom Cruise. Tom teed off during a Rolling Stone interview in 2004. Rolling Stone’s Neil Strauss wrote in his piece The Passion of the Cruise:

Since Scientology, in the popular imagination, is such a loaded word — often associated with heavy-handed recruitment tactics, strong-arm-lawyer assaults and steep membership and course fees — one would think that Cruise wouldn’t be so willing to take a journalist through that world.

“Who are those people that say those things?” Cruise asks when I bring it up over lunch one day. “Because I promise you, it isn’t everybody. But I look at those people and I say, ‘Bring it. I’m a Scientologist, man. What do you want to know?” I don’t mind answering questions.”

He lists some of Scientology’s selling points: its drug-abuse, prison-rehabilitation and education programs. “Some people, well, if they don’t like Scientology, well, then, fuck you.” He rises from the table. “Really.” He points an angry finger at the imaginary enemy. “Fuck you.” His face reddens. “Period.”

Scientology Goodwill Ambassador and OTVIII Kirstie Alley has been a long-standing member of the Scientology Fuck You Club. Kirstie is a master of the “OT Salute” as I like to call it:

Another member of the Scientology Fuck You Club is actor Danny “DJ Donkey Punch” Masterson, a man presently under investigation by the LAPD on allegations of rape. In an interview with Papermag, Masterson unloaded with F bombs like a Scientology B-52 over Wogville. Examples of Masterson’s Scientological eloquence:

Q: So then what would you say is your personal relationship to L. Ron Hubbard?

A: He’s a fucking guy who wrote awesome shit that I love studying… it’s just the study of the mind and cutting it into two parts: the analytical mind and the reactive mind. One is the one that we use and think with, and the other is the one that uses us, and we do things and like, “Why the fuck am I doing that?” or “Why the fuck am I thinking this thing?”

Q: What are the things that you wish you could clear up — the most annoying things that people approach you about?

A: …If people start like asking questions in a way where I feel like they have an ulterior motive, I’m just like, “Dude, just go buy a fucking book and read it and decide for your fucking self what it means. I don’t have time to have this conversation with you.”

Q: Another thing you hear is that Scientology and psychiatry are pitted against each other…

A: Yes. You will not find a Scientologist who does not fucking hate psychiatrists.

Q: Do you foresee a time when conversations like this will be moot and Scientology will be folded into the larger religions of the world as something that just is?

A: I think next week, it begins. [laughs] I mean, to me it already is. I haven’t had a conversation like this about my philosophy — I don’t think ever. But I love doing it and have no problem doing it. I work, I have a family and I’m a spiritual being who likes to understand why things happen in the world and want to learn more so that I can have them not affect me adversely. So if that’s weird, then, well, you can go fuck yourself.

Scientologist Juliette Lewis is a member of Scientology’s “Fuck You” club:

Scientology OT’s Grant and Elena Cardone say “fuck you” to everyone as they smile their 1.1 smiles:

And of course who can forget the bravura performance at LAX by three top Scientology executives when they “confronted” Marty Rathbun? Here are Jenny Linson, Dave Bloomberg, and Mark Yager. Jenny Linson is a trash-talking RTC emissary of David Miscavige:

In its response to the Hollywood Reporter concerning the two private investigators who followed Ron Miscavige Sr., the Church of Scientology called the allegations proveable bullshit. This is not a “fuck you” per se, but it might as well be given its tenor. The “Mr. Miscavige” referred to below is Church leader David Miscavige:

As for the purported emergency incident involving an investigator and the second-hand account of an alleged conversation containing a despicably false quote, Mr. Miscavige’s attorney, Michael Lee Hertzberg, is on record stating that Mr. Miscavige does not know the investigator, has never heard of the investigator, has never met the investigator, has never spoken to the investigator, never hired the investigator and never directed any investigations by him.

So let me be clear: No such conversation with Mr. Miscavige ever took place and any claim that one did is provable bullshit.

Former Scientology spokesman Tommy Davis unloaded the F bomb when he was asked about then-defector Marty Rathbun by the Tampa Bay Times. Fast forward to 4:00 to hear Tommy start to become unhinged and call Marty a “fucking lunatic.”

Over against Scientology’s trademark vulgarity, the Cult is also presently pretending to be persecuted just like Jews in the Holocaust. This is Scientology schizophrenia:

* When Scientology is winning it belligerently sends out “fuck you’s” to people who criticize it.

* When Scientology is being exposed for being a vicious soul-killing predatory cult that breaks up families, uses child labor, and engages in psycho-terrorism against its opponents, it is suddenly the victim of religious persecution. This is when Scientologists suddenly become just like Jews in the Holocaust. This shameless Scientology exploitation of the Holocaust is obscene and must stop.

No Scientologist is better at shamelessly exploiting the Holocaust than Scientologist Bodhi Elfman, a man whose fake piety is belied by the often vulgar podcasts he makes with his wife Jenna Elfman. These unfunny and sometimes pathetic videos give us the WHY for Jenna not having a successful sitcom since Dharma and Greg ended in 2002. Jenna is simply not funny anymore and has become merely strange. Likewise, to see Bodhi groveling for sex is an embarrassment.

Note: This video may be preceded by a Scientology paid ad featuring the disingenuous backstabbing Marty Rathbun, a man Scientology itself calls a “violent psychotic.” Scientology has hate websites posted  on Marty and yet tries to use him as a credible source to impeach Leah Remini’s show and her guest. More Scientology hypocrisy and talking out of both sides of its mouth. See my previous article: Is Marty Rathbun a Psychopath? Which Story is Scientology Sticking With?

February 2017: Notes and Observations on Scientology

February 2017: Here are some notes and observations on how I watch and look at Scientology:

1. So many things constellate around The Underground Bunker that this place is mandatory daily reading. Tony Ortega understands context, story, and significance in a way that utterly eludes Scientology, David Miscavige, Freedom Rag, and the no-show-no-stats SMP.

2. Mike Rinder’s blog is the Tiffany’s of documenting Scientology’s ongoing failures, deceits, and decline. Mike provides an outstanding daily journal of real-time Scientology decline. Mike’s valuable insights into Scientology as an organization are possible due to his decades of managing the Office of Special Affairs on a daily basis. Mike understands Scientology and David Miscavige at a profound level. That Mike’s jovial and robust sense of humor is mated to his ferocious intellect makes reading his analysis of the situation that much more enjoyable.

3. Disconnection and Fair Game are non-negotiable and must go. To the degree that Scientology practices and enforces Disconnection and Fair Game, Scientology’s self-destruction will persist. No one out here in the real world will stand for Scientology’s breaking up of families and its programs of character assassination.

4. Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath was a devastating expose of the Church of Scientology and its brutality. If it is not already in the works, season two will spontaneously appear as an act of Creation Ex Nihilo; the metaphysics of television dictate that this must happen.

4. Twitter and Facebook are extremely important to watch. The sum of message traffic on these platforms provides invaluable existential information about Scientology and Culture. Social media shows Scientology’s inherent inability to interact with Culture. This ineptitude is traceable to L. Ron Hubbard who called for Scientology to use blatantly phony and dishonest PR in the place of apologetics or other forms of meaningful interaction with Culture.

5. Scientology’s hate websites are very important to watch. These incriminating sites constitute damning and irrefutable forensic evidence which shows that Scientology’s programs of Fair Game have an unlimited budget of tax-free dollars. These websites also offer a penetrating insight into the psyche of Miscavige and OSA in a way that betrays both of them. Like a Cold War era Sovietologist would note, a good analyst must study the propaganda operations and party line rhetoric of the other side. IMO, our side needs more analysts who are willing to monitor, document, analyze, and write about Scientology’s websites.

6. Scientology’s cash position, cash surplus, and real estate acquisitions are almost completely meaningless as significant metrics. Any organization with a cash surplus can buy and amass a real estate portfolio. In most cases, Scientology’s real estate acquisitions of decrepit old buildings in need of millions of dollars in renovations are designed to stall and buy time for David Miscavige. From my perspective, Miscavige is obviously using these empty buildings to buy time and create some semblance of hope for the future of Scientology. However, no one is fooled. Example: The San Fernando Valley Ideal Org is a complete waste of time and money. There is no excuse for Miscavige to leave that eyesore unfinished given the IAS cash pile. The PR damage done to Scientology by leaving buildings empty for years or decades, particularly when there is plenty of money available to open these buildings within 12-18 months, is inexcusable. Conversely, Scientology will cherry pick top properties. This was the case with SMP here in Hollywood or Larry Hagman’s place in Ojai. But then the Cult will not actually do anything with these premier properties except use them for PR.

7. David Miscavige needs to reverse the massive and long-term statcrash in Scientology and does not know how to do it because he refuses to understand the nature and essence of the problems facing Scientology. Understanding the real problems would require critical self-reflection on his part wherein he would conclude that he must resign and step aside. He has zero capabilities in this regard and believes himself to be indispensable to Scientology. Compounding this is the long term structural damage to Scientology wrought by Miscavige’s execution of Hubbard’s bad policies and Miscavige’s own failed programs in the period 2001 to the present day is irreversible. Miscavige massively overreached with his frenzied money grab in the Basics, selling IAS statuses, and the failed Ideal Org strategy. GAT I and GAT II were, and are, failures in ways Miscavige does not understand.

8. Scientology’s contradictory policies of greed-driven inhumanity place it at war with itself and all the parts of its own existence. To use an analogy, Scientology is like a raging alcoholic with serious self-created problems who denies they are an alcoholic and blames others for their problems. Everyone else can see the problems except Scientology. The Church of Scientology is an embarrassment to itself and does not see it.

9. The real numbers a good leaker could give are these:
A. Attendance at events: publics and SO.
B. The number of SO members over the past ten years.
C. The total number of IAS members in good standing with the Church.
D. Total membership losses of publics and SO over the past ten years.
E. Number of SO senior execs paid off to sign nondisclosure agreements in the past ten years.

10. One of the real things to watch is the covert consolidation of Scientology Orgs. Miscavige can call it whatever he wants, but consolidation is contraction and Scientology is contracting inwards upon itself with great force. The acquisition of real estate is a red herring. Purchasing buildings is meaningless in the face of Scientology’s uncontrollable and accelerating membership losses. The way out is through the nearest door.

11. The petard upon which Scientology is hanging itself is Disconnection and Fair Game.

False Advertising: What Scientology’s Super Bowl Ad Won’t Tell You

Super Bowl Sunday is one of the most exciting days of the year in America. The “big game” drew 112,000,000 viewers in 2016. Advertisers lined up to pay $5,000,000 for a 30 second spot, which works out to $166,666 per second.

The Scientology Cult spends tax exempt dollars on a Super Bowl ad each year. However, the Cult only runs its ad in regional markets and spends perhaps $1,000,000. As reported  by Tony Ortega, the Scientology Super Bowl has, in past years, contained text that claims various spiritual benefits for Scientology:

…There’s no language adequate to describe
The ultimate heights you can attain…
Your full potential

Seriously? The Scientology Cult actually claims that one can reach their full potential by becoming a Scientologist? This is not only a lie, but it is false advertising. If anything, the Scientology Cult devastates its own members by legally, financially, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually crippling them to the greatest extent possible. Facts:

* Scientologists must sign a series of contracts that strip them of their legal rights to sue the Church of Scientology for damages of any kind — up to and including death.

* Scientologists must sign a contract that allows their “Church” to literally kidnap them and hold them captive if they experience a severe psychiatric breakdown, or what Scientology calls a “Psych Break.” This contract states that as Scientology does not believe in psychiatry or mental illness, the Scientologist gives his or her fellow Scientologists legal permission to remove them from any psychiatric facility and relocate them to a Scientology facility. This contract is what killed Scientologist Lisa McPherson after she was removed from a hospital following her psychiatric breakdown in which she stripped herself naked on a public street and begged for help.

*Scientology flagrantly lied to the IRS when it said it gave refunds and repayments of “monies on account for future services” to Scientologists who were unhappy and wanted their money back. The fact is that the greedy and deceptive Scientology Cult refuses refund and repayment requests by stating that there is no law requiring it to give any money back to anyone. This is Scientology’s bait and switch: Scientology salespeople will tell any lie or make any promise to separate  its members from their money — and once Scientology gets that money Scientologists will never get it back despite what Scientology policy says or what Scientologist told the IRS.

* Scientology Cult leader David Miscavige is so terrified of the public that he has not given an interview on television since his 1992 interview with Ted Koppel on ABC’s Nightline. The interview did not go well.

* Why David Miscavige is not the legitimate successor of L. Ron Hubbard. Rather, Miscavige rose to power in a series of coups in which he purged anyone who opposed him. This included Hubbard’s wife Mary Sue Hubbard who was the co-founder of the Church of Scientology.

* Why David Miscavige’s wife Shelly Miscavige is missing and has not been seen in public for over ten years. Vanity Fair’s outstanding article on Scientology’s Vanished Queen.

* Scientology’s secret teaching about Jesus Christ is a disgrace.

* Scientology’s secret Master Race doctrine embodies a call for a genocide against a certain class of people who comprise 2.5% of the world’s population.

* Stolen Valor: Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard’s fake war medals — Hubbard never served one day in combat and yet he claimed a Bronze Star and two Purple Heart’s and many other combat medals.

* The great big lie Scientology tells about the death of L. Ron Hubbard.

Mike Rinder: To Speak, or Not To Speak

Golden Lady Justice, Bruges, Belgium

(Note: Mike Rinder’s column of 12/17/2016 is so important that I am reposting here in its entirety.)  Mike Rinder:

THIS IS IMPORTANT

Leah Remini: Scientology and The Aftermath is reaching far and wide. As a result, there are a lot of people coming forward with their own stories of abuse in the church. We set up an email for people to report things (knowledgereports@hushmail.com) and soon hope to have a website (if I can find the time to put it together).

But there is one thing that has come up repeatedly that I wanted to comment on publicly.  The supposed “confidentiality agreements” many have signed. Though this mostly applies to those signed by Sea Org members, most staff and many public have also signed such agreements.

I now come to find that Scientology Ethics Officers have apparently made a habit of lying to people that such agreements (laden with draconian financial penalties for “breaching” the agreement) prevent them from even reporting crimes. This is simply NOT true. NO agreement or contract may prevent you or anyone from reporting a crime to law enforcement or testifying truthfully about it. No matter what some MAA may have said to you, you are not only free to report any crime you witnessed, you have an obligation to testify truthfully about it if you are asked to do so by law enforcement.

But alarmingly, even this lie is apparently embellished even further.

Some people have been convinced by unscrupulous (or woefully ignorant) MAA’s that they must not even MENTION that they signed such an agreement because to do so would be a violation of the agreement. And thus they must not only NOT say anything about crimes they may have witnessed, and if asked, they must NOT say it is because they “signed an agreement.” They must act dumb. Literally. This is a terrible, false and probably illegal LIE designed to suppress evidence of wrongdoing and pervert the course of justice.

Generally, these “confidentiality” agreements that so many people have signed are not legally enforceable. But you might wonder: “So why does the church use them? They have expensive lawyers and surely if they are not valid the lawyers have told them so?” Well, the lawyers HAVE told them so.  But they are counting on the fact that people BELIEVE they have validity and because they have been led to believe scientology will come after them for millions of dollars in “damages” if they “violate the agreement” even though they are useless in a legal sense. The misinformation about these agreements keeps a lot of people quiet. So, from scientology’s perspective, for the cost of a few sheets of paper, they have convinced 98% of the people who have signed them that they may never disclose anything they saw or experienced in scientology. That’s a pretty good cost/benefit ratio.

If you have been the victim of a crime or a witness to it, and you believed you could not report it because you were told you had signed a legal document that prevented you from doing so, it is another scientology LIE.

REPORT WHAT YOU KNOW TO THE APPROPRIATE LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY.

In addition to the fact that no contract can prevent anyone from reporting a crime, there are other reasons that make such agreements unenforceable.  What if you are not sure that what you witnessed or experienced is actually illegal, but you know it is wrong, and want to talk about it with someone? Can you?

Generally (and this is put in layman’s terms and is not the advice of a lawyer — but it is the opinion of someone VERY experienced in these matters) you cannot be bound by a contract:

  • You signed when you were a minor.
  • If you did not know what you were signing, did not understand the consequences and had no opportunity to consult with a lawyer
  • The contract is one-sided. You give up rights and scientology gives up nothing and doesn’t provide adequate consideration for what you give away
  • You felt you were coerced into signing the agreement — you had no choice and the consequences of not signing were so dire that you signed even though you had doubts

There are other reasons that make a contract unenforceable. But commonly, one or more of the above is true for ANY contract you signed when you were in scientology and almost certainly if you were in the Sea Org.

Scientology is not suing anyone for violating these agreements. They never have and they never will. In recent memory, scientology filed ONE lawsuit over breach of an agreement. They sued Debbie Cook. And her agreement had been drafted specifically for her (it was not a generic “confidentiality agreement” that everyone signs), it was signed on video in the presence of a lawyer who asked if she was doing it of her own free will, and she was handed a check for $50,000 in exchange for signing the agreement. But after one day of testimony about the circumstances under which she signed it and why, the church backed out of court like they had been hit between the legs with as stun gun. That attempted suit went nowhere other than into a disastrous tailspin of horrifying negative media for scientology.

Scientology has not sued me, and I signed these agreements too. They have not sued Marty Rathbun. Or Amy Scobee. Or Marc and Claire Headley. Or Jeff Hawkins. Or anyone. And they all signed them too.

I urge you now: If you have witnessed physical assault, sexual assault, child abuse, been brought into the country by the church under false pretenses, or on a church arranged visa and had your passport confiscated, if you were asked to lie to law enforcement on behalf of scientology or asked to cover up or not report a crime, if you were asked to perjure yourself in a legal case or anything else you believe may be a crime, please step forward, speak up and help put this criminality to an end.

If you do not know where to go or who to talk to, write to us at knowledgereports@hushmail.com.  We will try to respond as quickly as possible. But please don’t send us anything if you are not willing to come forward, we need to devote our energies to those who are in a position to make statements publicly.

As the curtain is drawn back on the truth about scientology, the insidious layers of deception and control are being revealed. And this has concealed a lot of ugly and even criminal behavior that has been ignored or deliberately hidden.

It is time to draw back the curtains for real.
