Tom De Vocht’s Substack is a mind-blowing must read as he ruthlessly exposes David Miscavige.
Tom was in the Sea Org for 28 years and served at the highest levels where he worked with David Miscavige on a daily basis. He is an eyewitness to Miscavige’s violent insanity in which Miscavige criminally assaulted his executives; mismanaged hundreds of millions of dollars in parishioner donations; and engaged in many other irrational, extravagant, and destructive activities.
One example of extravagance occured when David Miscavige infamously spent $400,000 on a birthday party for Tom Cruise aboard the Freewinds. Church funds were used to pay for this 2004 event. This opulent party constituted an excessive benefit to a church member which is forbidden by IRS rules. The party was reported to the IRS. Our sources told us that Tom Cruise was advised by counsel to pay for the party and the other expensive gifts David Miscavige had lavished on the actor to keep their bromance going. We understand that Tom Cruise paid for Dave’s gifts to avoid IRS problems for David Miscavige.
David Miscavige is Scientology’s Caligula. Miscavige made his Sea Org execs salute his beagles; the dogs were dressed in Sea Org office sweaters adorned with gold braid epaulets.
If David Miscavige likes you, you get a $400,000 birthday. If he hates you, you are locked in Scientology’s prison, beaten, or both. If you escape the Church and expose Emperor Dave, he will spend endless amounts of money on Fair Game to destroy you. He is insane.
Tom De Vocht left the Church in 2009 on his own terms by walking out the front gate of Gold Base. He appeared on Going Clear: Scientology & the Prison of Belief and Leah Remini’s Scientology and the Aftermath.
Aaron Smith-Levin has been covering Tom De Vocht’s written articles on YouTube. These videos add context and commentary:

Excellent stuff. I’d really like to hear some discussions with lawyers and prosecutors and ex prosecutors about the Miscavige directly caused violence.
When Jeff Hawkins told me about the Miscavige violence as of 2005, I called Prof Steven Kent, he told me call police, I called police, they said the persons receiving the violence have to come report it to police.
So, we need lawyers and prosecutors to lay out WHAT is needed and wanted by them, to take legal steps or prosecute future violence in Scientology, driven by Miscavige, or generated however it gets generated.
We need some lawyers and prosecutors laying out what’s realistically needed and wanted to get the evidence the next time it happens.
or what to do now, after the fact.
I thought that just getting the word out, via the media, as was done by the St. Pete/Tampa Bay Times articles on the violence way back, “The Truth Rundown” which can be purchased on Amazon today, was the “best” that could be done.
But the Aftermath Fdn lawyer, and I wish some ex prosecutors would offer up some advice at this point.
The Miscavige violence in any other legit organization, even if not prosecuted, would have gotten a Miscavige “boss” removed. Only in violent cults, or violent criminal groups, does this go on. I think even in a crinimal group, a Miscavige would NOT last very long, he’d generate so much violence right back at him.
RELEVENT to history, is get Jesse Prince to re-tell the time Jesse was driven to react with almost deadly gun retaliation, when Misavige had some top Miscavige aides try to jump on Jesse and physically constrain and control Jesse. Jesse responded with loaded weapons, one or two of the weapons were presents or hand me downs from L. Ron Hubbard’s long ago weapons cache.
It’s a sordid bigger story, the whole violence in Scientology history.
I’m so log Tom is a firsthand recipient and witness to speak forcefully about it, and now hopefully get some action or future preparedness for the next time Scientology’s violence pops up.
It’s cult violence. And it’s a person like Miscavige who even pushed it to the level it grew, so Tom’s very right to focus on Miscavige.
Just like Gerry Armstrong focused on Miscavige way back.
“we” need some layers and ex prosecutors input.
