March 9, 2025, Hollywood: Controversial Scientology protester Scott Hochstetter a/k/a Defender of Ants was arrested by the LAPD for Assault with Deadly Weapon Likely to Cause Great Bodily Injury and other charges. Bail is set at $325,000.

Many in the anti-Scientology community view this individual as an agent provocateur. There is evidence to make this argument based upon the behavior and history of this individual. 

The LAPD has seized several of Hochstetter’s phones during his prior arrests. LAPD seized his new phone today when he was arrested at a gas station-mini-mart.

The Charges and Bail were explained by The Evil Queen Has Spoken. She worked in the District Attorney’s Office for 30 years and knows whereof she speaks: 

PC 245(a)(4) Assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury is a serious offense under California Penal Code § 245(a)(4) PC. This crime involves assaulting another person with force that is likely to cause significant injury, such as broken bones, concussions, or other serious bodily harm.

Hate Crime Charges: California Penal Code 594.3(b) addresses vandalism of places of worship, specifically churches, synagogues, mosques, temples, religious educational institutions, or other places of worship, and cemeteries, if the act is a hate crime intended to intimidate and deter religious freedom, making it a felony punishable by imprisonment.

Update: Mr. Hochstetter’s bail was reduced to $75,000 and he was released on bail. Conditions of his bail require him to wear a GPS ankle bracelet and to stay 100 yards (300 feet) away from all Scientology facilities.
