Church of Scientology: We Do Not Guarantee Anything!

A specific Scientology Policy Directive (scroll down) is yet more evidence that Scientology is overseen by armies of lawyers whose strategic purpose is to ensure that the Church is never held legally responsible for any of its own actions or claims.

Embodied in this Scientology Policy Directive is an outright lie which states, “At no time did L. Ron Hubbard promise people anything or claim anything for Dianetics and Scientology.”

Where does one even start picking apart this bald-faced lie?

L. Ron Hubbard made dozens, if not hundreds, of miraculous claims and promises for both Dianetics and Scientology. A few examples from holysmoke.org are listed below:

“This [Scientology] is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner. By its use the thousand abilities Man has sought to recover become his once more.” – L. Ron Hubbard, SCIENTOLOGY: A HISTORY OF MAN, 1952

“Of all the ills of man which can be successfully processed by Scientology, arthritis ranks near the top. In skilled hands, this ailment, though misunderstood and dreaded in the past, already has begun to become history. Twenty-five hours of Scientology by an auditor who fairly understands how to process arthritis can be said to produce an invariable alleviation of the condition. Some cases, even severe ones, have responded in as little as two hours of processing, according to reports from auditors in the field.” – L. Ron Hubbard, “Journal of Scientology,” Issue 1-G, 195

“Leukaemia (sic) is evidently psychosomatic in origin and at least eight cases of leukaemia had been treated successfully by Dianetics after medicine had traditionally given up. The source of leukaemia has been reported to be an engram containing the phrase ‘It turns my blood to water.'” – L. Ron Hubbard, “Journal of Scientology,” Issue 15-G, 1953

“Scientology is the only specific (cure) for radiation (atomic bomb) burns.” – L. Ron Hubbard, ALL ABOUT RADIATION, p. 109

“You are only three or four hours from taking your glasses off for keeps.” – L. Ron Hubbard, “Eyesight and glasses,” “Dianetic Auditor’s Bulletin,” Vol. 2, No. 7, January 1952

Even Bridge Publications repeats Hubbard’s same claim of the the walking and the blind seeing on its own webpage for the ACC Lectures:

As training, ACC students attended the Universe Processes Congress where L. Ron Hubbard broadly released these breakthroughs. And, reaching into the community, he launched “Operation Phoenix,” with auditors ministering in homes and hospitals, resulting in miracle case histories—the lame walking, the blind seeing, and more.

  1. I think this is catching on with other faiths. Last time I went to confession the priest handed me a 10 pg contract and refused to hear my sins before I signed it. He was videotaping it and everything, kinda weird. Even when I walk into the church nowadays, instead of dipping my finger in the holy water and making the sign of the cross I have to sign a waiver! What is the world coming to? *shaking head*

  2. I am very interested in getting my hands on an original document (or copy thereof) specifically addressing that second quote about arthritis. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this?
